OPENING ADDRESS BY THE PRESIDENT ( Dec 5th 2016 Outreach).

Ane Osiobe International Foundation was founded on the 6th day of June 2015 in memory of Mrs. Ann Eloho Osiobe, who was a Deputy Director, at the Department of Policy Implementation (DPI) now Department of Quality Assurance Education Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. In her life time, she showed great passion for the education of her children and extended this passion and love to other children.

She supported and assisted the less privileged in their educational journey. She died, a loving mother to 4 children and with a strong passion for the education of young people in Nigeria. It is the desire of her children, to carry on with this legacy of love and hope, in helping children achieve their dreams that has given rise to this Foundation.

At Ane Osiobe, we believe education is a basic human right. We work with the Edison Principle, because we’re sure to make it at some point. No one should ever forgo education because of the cost. The right of every child to get education is a basic human right (Dr. Stephen A. Osiobe).

Knowledge is power and one needs education for functional knowledge and to succeed in life.  Nothing matters, than knowing that you made the world a better place. The only thing we’ve got to fear is fear itself (FDR). Fear has two meanings; forget everything and run, or face your fear and rise. This is not the time to shrink back because of the current recession, but it is the time to press forward and make the lives of the future leaders better through educational empowerment.

At Ane Osiobe International Foundation, we do not believe in the impossible, because ‘impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it’s an opinion, impossible is not a declaration, it’s a dare, impossible is potential, impossible is temporary, impossible is nothing (Muhammed Ali). Once you realize your worth, nothing can stop you and you are worth fighting for. By creating new limits, we make the impossible possible in our world.

If we’re going to change the future we have to go all the way. No one ever injured their eyesight by looking on the bright side of things. No one ever got a negative result by thinking positive. The basic point is, it’s not about the man power, but the power in the man and that’s our product ‘’HOPE’’. Hope is why we work so hard, so our life and the lives of people around us will become better. You can’t believe in overnight success. Life isn’t about the goal(s), life is about the journey. Achieving your goal(s) is momentary, but your life is not, and the only way you can truly enjoy your life, is to enjoy your journey. The qualities we need from you are openness and integrity. These words resonate in me.

Be reminded, It isn’t the critics who count, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man in the arena, Who is the man in the arena? “The man whose face is marred by dust, sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; Who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends (him/her)self in a worthy cause(s), who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid soul who have never known neither victory nor defeat’’ (Teddy Roosevelt).

Life is not about what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you (Chelsea Clinton). I’m not saying it is going to be easy. I am telling you it’s going to be worth it. This is our first outreach, and we’ve chosen LEA Primary School, Lugbe, Abuja. Why Lugbe? Well, charity begins at home my mother always said.

Engagement comes with knowledge, and knowledge comes through education (Ejiro U. Osiobe). Remember, there is no shortcut. It takes time to build a better, stronger version of ourselves.
